Read Article		With the release of Kodak Polychrome Graphics Sword plate and plate technology, which do away with preheating and postbaking, Cottonwood has been able to cut down on processing times and energy used to develop thermal plates. This new system utilizes write-to-background technology, a method in which the whole plate is imaged around the actual image (similar to film), but in a digital environment so the image is clean, sharp and able to produce up to 400,000 impressions. Along with producing a sharper image, we have also been able to calibrate the plate within 1%. This allows us to hold a close relationship between our proof and the printed product, assuring you that your job will be the same today, tomorrow, and in the future. Unlike any other plate Cottonwood has used, the Sword plate and processing system has enabled us to out perform any of the older plate technologies. This system has proven to be more efficient, more reliable, and closer to our goal, providing a quality product to you. We reconfigured our way of thinking and developed a program for keeping our quality standards at a higher point than ever before. Color Manager, Ron Munniks was hired late 2001 and brought with him over 20 years of scanning/color correcting experience. It was his job to provide the press room with a high quality product that would be sure to match your proof. Out in the press room, Manager Robert Vigil, who also attributes over 80 years experience to his department was in charge of communicating any change in plate or proof to Ron, and relaying any information to the customer in order to reach their goal.
